About Lab.

We are creating new materials, new science, new technologies, and new concepts to solve the problems of the environment, energy, and resources. Then we want to contribute the society by using our research achievements and realize carbon neutrality. Specifically, we are now trying to create materials for hydrogen storage, hydrogen generation, and hydrogen usage. Keywords are: "surface physics and chemistry at atomic scale", "surface reaction dynamics", and "new two-dimensional materials such as boron containing sheets".

Currently, Our research focuses on hydrogen boride (HB) nanosheets made of boron
and hydrogen, which we succeeded in creating for the first time in the world, and boron
monosulfide (BS) nanosheets made of boron and sulfur, which we succeeded in creating for
the first time in the world by the exfoliation of rhombohedral boron monosulfide.

  • In September, B4 student Tabata-san went on an overseas training at the Sankara Laboratory at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay).



    In June, M1 student Oiwa-san went on an overseas training course at the Portehault Laboratory at the Sorbonne University in Paris.

  • Some members of our laboratory had the opportunity to visit Toyota Motor Corporation.
    The tour included the strawberry farm at the Kamigo Plant and the tomato farm at the Meichi Plant.
    We had a valuable opportunity to learn about environmentally conscious agricultural technologies and Toyota’s efforts to create a sustainable, circular society within their manufacturing sites.

    We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone at Toyota Motor Corporation who kindly guided us during the visit.
