研究テーマ:Direct measurement of Na+ ion concentration in live plant by using miniauturized electrochemical sensors

I have micro- fabricated a glass capillary ion selective electrode as comparative study. Although the preparation of the ion-selective electrodes using glass capillaries is not difficult and the electrode is widely used for basic researches, the preparation itself is time-consuming. If there is a small chip used to measure Na+ ion concentration and measurements can be started immediately without making the electrodes, it will be of great help for researchers in the plant related fields. The aim of this study is to fabricate a simple, time saving and cost effective micro-fabricated ion-selective electrode chip to measure the local Na+ ion concentration directly from live plant. The microfabricated ion-selectieve-electrode chip could be helpful for plant breeders to save their time (from 3-4 years to few minutes) for finding the tolerant plant in plant breeding program
